"What To Do About Fallen Trees" - McAllen Real Estate

McAllen Real Estate - Residential

fallen_treeOnce in awhile we all get a storm with a potential threat of causing some damage including fallen trees. The first thing you should do is to call your homeowners insurance agency to find out if tree removal is covered. Sometimes they are only covered if done by a professional. If you are covered by your insurance, do not move any part of the tree and take photos of everything. Also, if the tree has fallen around power lines, contact your utility company. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires that any tree removal work within 10 feet of a power line be done by a professional. It is better to have professionals remove all fallen trees because they have experience with large equipment needed to safely remove fallen trees. They also know the right people to contact and how everything must be done, so that, the insurance covers the costs. The bottom line is "do-it-yourself" tree removal is not recommended by either the government or insurance companies.
