The fall is a good time to have outdoor work done because it's cooler, it's considered an "off" period for landscaping contractors, and you could even benefit from an "off" season discount! One of the things you could have done is to have pavers or concrete put in, but how do you know which to use? Here are some facts to help you make that decision. Pavers come in different sizes, shapes, colors and textures. They can also be mixed and matched to make beautiful, intricate patterns. They are, however, not permanent. If laid correctly, though, they can be very durable. They are also more costly--$10 to $15 per square foot, and they are more labor intensive. Concrete is durable and permanent, and because it is a continuous, poured piece of pavement, it is more affordable--$6 to $9 per square foot, and it is less labor intensive. The only way to change it, however, is to break it up and start over again. Ground shifting or an earthquake will crack and buckle the concrete, but other than that, it's pretty solid. Another advantage to concrete is that you can also stamp patterns into it plus add color to create any look you want. You can even "mimic" the look of pavers! Ultimately, the decision is up to you depending on what your wants and needs are.
