McAllen Real Estate - Residential

kids_reading_cornerIf you have one corner of a room that is currently not being used very much or that you could put to better use, here are some ideas to make the best of that corner space and turn it into something special. Create a children's reading nook with a soft,over-sized bean bag or children's sofa. Neither item has to be expensive; there are plenty of places where you can get them at bargain prices.  Instead of worrying about a lamp, you can add a wall sconce at a lower level to make it child-friendly. Provide a variety of age-appropriate children's books in baskets, bins, or a little colorful shelf. It can be one that you found at a garage sale and refurbished. Decorate the wall(s) with your own children's art to make it more personal and colorful. You can also add a small low table if you wish so that the little readers can create their own stories if inspired after reading an especially good book. You could provide an extra little basket or container with paper, pads, pencils and crayons to encourage illustrating and writing. Don't be surprised if this little corner becomes a favorite spot for your child or children. It will keep them quiet and busy and have life-long positive impact, and who knows, maybe even inspire your child to become an author or illustrator when they grow up!
