home_theaterLCD vs Plasma - Recent changes to LCD displays give them more flexibility with the lighting of the action on the screen. In the past, plasma displays more effectively handled scenes that were heavy in blacks because the technology was able to adjust how and when brighter colors were displayed. Another problem that plasma displays had, which has gotten better but is still an issue, is the possibility of having a burned-in image produced by the phosphors. LCD now has the ability to adjust accordingly with LED - backlit technology. This has made the LCD's thinner and reduced the amount of heat they throw off as well as the energy used. Choosing the Correct Size - Anything smaller than 42" would have to be an LCD because it is not practical to manufacture plasma displays less than 42". Budget and the seating arrangements of the TV room will determine the size of your TV screen. With a 42" screen, you should be about 5 feet away from the display. The prevailing opinion is, however, that a family's budget ,more than anything, will determine which TV a home will have.
