With the McAllen area and Rio Grande Valley growing at a rapid pace, new developments are going up fast. When venturing out to buy a home, you may ponder whether you should buy a new or an existing home. There are upsides and downsides to both options. Many people are drawn to the idea of a brand new construction with shiny new appliances and rooms that have never been lived in before. But others are drawn to the charm that come with existing homes in established neighborhoods with mature trees. If you are considering purchasing an existing home, one of the great advantages (besides a lower price tag) is that you usually don't have to spend as much on all new landscaping. If you enjoy small projects and home improvements, then this is a great opportunity for you to tweak a few things here and there. Location is also key in your quest to decide what option is better for you. It's easier to see the future of the area surrounding an established neighborhood compared to a new development. But new properites have their perks too. You don't have to worry about remodeling any time soon and energy-efficient appliances are already installed. Chances are if you are buying a new construction, you like almost everything exactly as it is (which is why you're paying the extra money to buy new in the first place). Location, schools, and budget are the main factors when deciding whether or not to buy new. Talk to your local agent to find out which option would be best for you.
