A new trend is developing in the design world, causing mixed emotions amongst designers and consumers. It's called "undecorating." People in the industry think it has something to do with the bruised economy, while others think people are becoming more comfortable with expressing personal design over what "they" think is good style. Undecorating refers to placing items together simply because you like them regardless of color, style, era, cost, etc. It's a more casual lived-in look rather than a so-beautiful-you-don't-want-to-move-something-out-of-its-proper-place-or-break-anything-ridiculously-expensive look. It's about holding onto items that mean something to you regardless of taste or finding items in a store or at a garage sale that spoke to you for whatever reason. It allows you to develop your own idea of taste and style while allowing others to catch a glimpse of who you are by stepping into your home.
