While many lenders are under investigation nationwide, most Texas firms say they are following the laws and not "robo-signing." Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott had asked many companies to stop foreclosure proceedings until they had investigated their own practices were legal. Of the 30 companies he wrote to, only 3 said they found irregularities. This issue has become a topic of concern that lending companies are simply following through with foreclosures without going through all the paperwork to make sure everything is in proper order and the property indeed should be foreclosed on. Abbott is trying to make sure that the lenders are doing all they can to follow the law and work with borrowers on an individual level as much as they can before moving forward with a foreclosure.
