"Salt Water vs. Chlorine Pools"
PDF Print E-mail
McAllen Real Estate - Residential

poolThere is an ongoing debate about which type of pool is better: chlorine or salt water. While owners of each will more than likely claim their choice is better, the preference is really up to the consumer. Both have pluses and minuses. Factors can range from how much and what type of maintenance you are more comfortable with and what your start-up and long-run budgets are. They say that chlorine pools kill bacteria faster (approximately 24-48 hours), while salt water pools take 3-5 days. Salt water pools are supposed to be better for your skin, hair, and they don't sting your eyes. They do cost more to install, but they are supposed to be cheaper over time since salt is more economical than chlorine tablets. Talk to your local pool professionals about your needs to find out which option would be best for you.
