As the decades have passed, the typical home buyers have changed. Married couples are no longer the only ones seeking to own. Now nearly 1/3 of all buyers are single people. That is not to say that one single adult is now the norm for current home buyers. People are becoming more creative or varied in the ways they go about buying a home. Some adults will ask their parents to co-sign. Siblings sometimes will decide to buy together. Friends or unmarried couples also buy homes together. Americans have this strong desire to own a home, and they are either not willing to wait or do not feel the need to be married in order to buy. Lenders and the IRS have ways of working with these modern situations, making it possible for unmarried people to own. This new trend is growing, creating more options for those that want to buy a home, but may not qualify for a loan. They may just need a little help from family or friends.
